How do I know if I need to change the regulator on my alternator?

There are several ways to determine if your vehicle's alternator governor is defective:

The battery charge indicator light on your dashboard is on.
A voltage test using a voltmeter to detect the voltage. It should be between 12.8 and 13.6 V.

Other elements such as the slip ring, diode bridge, coals may cause problems. Very often, the defect is caused by the wear of the brushes or slip rings, resulting in the complete repair of the alternator.
